Bradford at Waterford

When: 7 tonight

Where: Waterford (100 Field Dr.)

Series note: According to News records, this is the teams' first meeting in recent history.

Player to watch: Bradford junior linebacker Brock Lampe may have only earned honorable mention All-Southeast Conference honors as a sophomore, but it's a good bet he'll rise well beyond that this season. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Lampe recorded over 100 tackles last year and will be a key part of tonight's game against Waterford's typically punishing ground attack. … "I've never in 20 years, 21 years (of coaching), whatever it's been, have a linebacker dominate practice the way he does," Bradford coach Troy Bowe said. "It's incredible. He makes every play."

Key stat: Turnovers are a key stat for any team, but it wasn't hard to see what the common denominator was in Bradford's losses last season. In their six defeats — including a 37-10 loss to Oak Creek in a WIAA Division-1 first-round playoff game — the Red Devils committed 15 turnovers. In their four wins, they committed six.

FYI: A perennial power in the Southern Lakes Conference, Waterford won the SLC title with a 7-0 mark last season and finished 9-2 overall. ... The Wolverines have non-conference experience against the SEC in each of the last two seasons, as they beat Indian Trail 35-0 in Week 2 of 2017 and 34-17 in Week 2 of 2018.
