The first day of the WIAA Division-1 State Gymnastics Meet in Wisconsin Rapids is in the books.

And in its second straight trip, the Burlington/Badger/Wilmot combined squad is coming home with a second-place medal.

B/B/W posted a team score of 144.2167, behind a 148.2833 from defending state champion Franklin Combined.

Hartford was third with a 142.2500, followed by Hartland Arrowhead with a 141.6667, and Waukesha West Combined with a 139.9333.

Maddy Bronson led the way on the balance beam (9.417), followed by Annie Murphy (9.317), Malia Bronson (8.983), Ava Trent (8.33) and Regan Cassidy (8.75).

On the floor, it was Malia Bronson with the top score of 9.133, followed by Maddy Bronson (8.983), Murphy (8.933), Cassidy (8.9) and Kylie Kramer (8.683).

Cassidy paced the Demons on the uneven bars with a 9.183, followed by Trent (9.1), Maddy Bronson (8.950), Malia Bronson (8.817) and Kramer (8.4). Burlington’s top effort on the vault came from Maddy Bronson (9.550), followed by Kramer (8.967), Malia Bronson (8.650), Cassidy (8.5) and Trent (8.467).

The individual competition is set for today at 11:30 a.m.

Three girls from Kenosha Combined — Maggie Losch (floor), Grace Corcoran (floor) and Megan Zeller (vault) — are in the field after they finished in the top five at the Burlington Sectional last weekend.

Losch was third on the floor as a freshman a year ago.

Representing B/B/W are Murphy (balance beam), Maddy Bronson (beam, all-around), Malia Bronson (floor exercise) and Cassidy (uneven bars).
