Central (0-2) at Burlington (2-0)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Don Dalton Stadium (400 McCanna Parkway, Burlington)
Series note: The Demons have won eight straight, going back to the Falcons' 33-22 victory in 2010. … Burlington blanked Central, 24-0, in Week 6 in Paddock Lake last season and has outscored the Falcons by an average of 22.8 points in its eight-game winning streak in the series.
Player to watch: Central coach Tyson Mengel is looking for a strong game tonight from 6-0, 270-pound sophomore offensive/defensive lineman Connor Schmidt. … "Connor started for us last season on offense and has made huge gains in the offseason with his strength and agility," Mengel said. "He has been a dominant force on both sides of the ball this season. Entering into conference play against a perennial power, we need him to establish the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Burlington is always tough up front, and Connor should give football fans a good show to watch in the trenches."
Key stat: Burlington senior quarterback Dalton Damon ranks second in the Southern Lakes Conference with 321 passing yards this season. But Central's pass defense has been stingy, allowing just 99 total yards through the air in two games.
FYI: The Demons enter SLC play after a 42-35 win at home over Whitnall and a 41-29 win at Racine Horlick. … The Falcons are the only team in the SLC still searching for a victory.
