The UW-Parkside women’s volleyball team closed out a perfect weekend trip to Indianapolis on Saturday with a three-set sweep over Malone.

Parkside, which won for the fourth time in its last five matches, including three straight at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament on Friday and Saturday, posted a 25-17, 25-23, 27-25 victory to improve to 8-13 overall.

The Rangers on Friday defeated Truman State and Southern Indiana, 3-1, to open the tournament.

“I was really happy to finish the already good weekend (Saturday) on a strong note,” Parkside coach Leigh Barea said. “Malone was really scrappy and seemed like they were digging everything, so I’m proud of the way we stayed engaged and finished our plays.

“(The 3-0 weekend) is a confidence boost. I hope this will help us moving forward into conference season as we continue to fight for a spot in the (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) tournament.”

Leading the way against Malone were Rachel Hedman (13 kills, four blocks, 15 digs), Reese Rossnagel (12 kills), Carlee Behnke (five blocks) and Alysha Brickl (37 assists).
