The defending Men’s Division champion stayed in the winner’s bracket of the 47th annual Rotary Club of Kenosha West Softball Tournament.

Tirabassi — the team was named Blue and the Brothers when it won the title last year, but this year’s roster is mostly the same players — scored four runs in the seventh to squeak past Coins-Lost Boys, 15-14, in a winner’s bracket game Friday on the second night of the tournament at Lincoln Park.

That kept Tirabassi in the all-important winner’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

Tirabassi will face Monstars/Teezers/Coasters, which notched a 20-3 win over Erickson Auto Trim on Friday, at 6 p.m. tonight on Lincoln No. 2.

The other winner’s bracket matchup will be also be at 6 p.m. tonight on Lincoln No. 1 and will feature Shenanigans/Dunn Sports/WTP against EVO/Sunnyside.

Shenanigans/Dunn Sports/WTP — which won four straight titles from 2014-17 — hammered Sheridan Lanes, 23-5. EVO/Sunnyside, meanwhile, notched a 19-11 win over Scores CCS.

The winners of the two winner’s bracket games tonight will meet for the winner’s bracket championship at 10 a.m. Sunday. Whoever emerges from that game will enter the championship round needing just one win against whoever emerges from the loser’s bracket.

The Women’s Division got underway Friday night, as well, and two-time defending champion Squirrels defeated the Burlington Beavers, 15-2, to move on to the winner’s bracket. CD/DVD Games Warehouse did the same with a 19-4 defeat of Spanky’s.

The Coed Division also got underway Friday, but the games were too late to be included in this edition of the News.

For Friday’s results and today’s pairings, see the Scoreboard, Page C4.
