Racine Park (1-3, 0-2 SEC) at Tremper (2-2, 1-1 SEC)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Ameche Field (8560 26th Ave.)
Broadcast: WLIP-AM 1050 and WGTD Live on Facebook
Series note: The Panthers broke a 22-game SEC losing streak with a 20-7 win at Ameche Field in Week 6 of the 2017 season. … Tremper got back at Park with a 17-7 victory in Week 7 last season, as the Trojans scored 10 unanswered points in the second half to break a 7-7 halftime tie.
Player to watch: Tremper coach Jared McGranahan thinks 6-0, 170-pound junior safety Michael Dinaso will play a big role in tonight's game. … "He's tremendous in coverage and in run support," McGranahan said. "He will play a key role in our gameplan."
Key stat: The Panthers may not have the record to show it, but they've been competitive this season under their coach, former St. Joseph standout Danny Hernandez. Park lost by just four points in back-to-back games against Union Grove and Indian Trail in Weeks 2 and 3 before a 35-18 loss to Franklin at Horlick Field in Week 4 in which the Sabers led just 21-18 before scoring 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. … Park senior quarterback Ricky Canady has accounted for 798 yards rushing and passing.
FYI: The game will be played on the field, but there's much more to it than that tonight. In a "Go Orange" event, the night will be dedicated to former Tremper coach Frank Matrise Jr., who died on July 11 at age 53. A Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Famer, Matrise went 115-78 as the Trojans' head coach from 1997 through 2015, including 10 playoff appearances and a WIAA Division-1 state runner-up finish in 2001. … Speaking of postseason appearances, this is a key game for Tremper if it wants to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Trojans have a tough road after tonight with games at Indian Trail in Week 6, at home against Franklin in Week 7, at home against Bradford in Week 8 and at Racine Horlick in Week 9.
