Tremper’s Cameron Huss put an exclamation point on two strong days Tuesday at the WIAA Division-1 State Golf Tournament.

Huss collected three birdies and just one bogey to finish with a 1-under-par 71 and close his state tournament at University Ridge in Verona with a 146, good for fifth overall.

The 71 he recorded Tuesday came on the heels of a round of 75 Monday.

Huss finished one stroke ahead of two-time defending Division-1 state champion, Piercen Hunt, who had a 76 Tuesday to close with a 147.

Merrill’s Russell Dettmering blistered University Ridge for a 6-under-par 66 Tuesday to win the individual state title. Dettmering had a 71 Monday and tallied a 137, six strokes ahead of Marquette’s Jack Blair, who had a 143 (71-72).

Marquette’s Drew Sagrillo (75-70) and Lake Geneva Badger’s Blake Wisdom (70-75) tied for third with a 145.

For the second straight year, Marquette won the Division-1 team title with a 594 (296-298), well ahead of second place Middleton’s 614 (303-311) and Badger’s 623 (306-317).

In Division-2, Madison Edgewood also defended its state title with a 464. Edgerton’s Joe Forsting won the individual title with a two-day total of 108.

Manitowoc Roncalli claimed the crown in Division-3 with a 493, while Sheboygan Area Lutheran’s Drew Wilcox was the medalist with a 109.

Action in Divisions-2 and 3 was shortened to 27 holes because of rain Tuesday.
