Indian Trail (6-2, 5-1 SEC) at Racine Case (4-4, 3-3 SEC)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Hammes Field (7345 Washington Ave., Racine)
Series note: Since becoming a varsity program in 2012, the Hawks are a perfect 7-0 against the Eagles. … Last year's game was a shootout, as Indian Trail outlasted Case for a 41-30 Week 5 win at Jaskwhich Stadium. The Hawks rushed for 173 yards, while the Eagles passed for 285.
Player to watch: Indian Trail coach Paul Hoffman cited his all-junior offensive line of Mason Kochersperger (5-9, 236 pounds), Luis Delavale-Vera (6-0, 305 pounds), Riley Kennow (6-5, 283 pounds), Dreu Steinmetz (6-3, 291 pounds) and Gavin Powell (6-2, 200 pounds). Hoffman called the unit "The Union." … "Backbone of our offense," Hoffman said. "All juniors. Have consistently improved all year."
Key stat: The Hawks' defense has allowed just 32 points during the team's three-game winning streak, including an impressive 12-0 blanking of Oak Creek at Jaskwhich Stadium last week. … The Eagles are averaging only 14.3 points per game this season.
FYI: There is plenty on the line for both teams tonight. … With a win, Case would secure its first playoff berth since 1997 and just its fourth overall. … Indian Trail has already clinched its sixth postseason berth in eight seasons as a varsity program, but the Hawks are looking to host a first-round playoff game and could also share the SEC title. An Indian Trail win and a Franklin lost at rival Oak Creek on Thursday night (that game ended too late for a result to be included in today's News) would make it a tie for the SEC title between the Hawks and Sabers.
