Coltyn Hansen fired a 77 on Saturday to take a three-shot lead in the Championship Flight heading into Sunday’s final round of the Men’s City Open at Washington Park Municipal Golf Course.
Unfortunately for Hansen, duty called.
Because of work obligations, Hansen was forced to withdraw from the tournament, and Jason Barnhill took advantage.
Barnhill, who carded an 80 on Saturday, went low Sunday with a 74 for a two-day total of 154 and a three-stroke win over Dennis Hoff.
Hoff matched Barnhill’s final-round 74 but entered the day three shots behind Barnhill and finished with a 157 (83-74).
With Hansen’s withdrawal, the Championship Flight featured four players.
Jim Pruett placed third at 163 (81-82), while Dave Spizzirri was fourth with a 169 (86-83).
In the A Flight, Jim Anderson fired a 77 on Sunday for a 162 (85-77) and a four-shot victory over Tom Barnhill, who carded a 166 (82-84).
Mark Boston was third in the A Flight with a 167 (82-84).
In the B Flight, Tom Barr shot a pair of 84s for a 168 and an eight-stroke victory over Dan Shatkins, who shot a 176 (89-87).
Michael Flatley was third in the B Flight at 177 (89-88).
