The Kokomo Jackrabbits scored the first run of the game Wednesday night.
The Kenosha Kingfish scored the next seven.
After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, the Kingfish stormed back for their third straight win, beating the Jackrabbits 7-2 in Northwoods League action to open a four-game road trip.
Kenosha improved to 4-5, while Kokomo dropped to 4-5. The teams play again at 6:05 p.m. tonight in Kokomo.
The Kingfish took the lead for good Wednesday with a four-run top of the third, all with two outs.
Nate Thomas scored RJ Pearson with a single, Ryan Knernschield scored Zachary Nogalski with a base hit and Charles Middleton had a two-run single to score Thomas.
The Kingfish added three more in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to Austin Pfeifer that scored Matt Padre, Ethan Owens’ groundout that plated Middleton and Pearson’s RBI single that scored Joey Scaffidi.
Kenosha starter Sean Marhefke allowed just a run and two hits and struck out two, but he was limited to just three innings due to four walks.
Tanner Fallon was fantastic in middle relief, improving to 2-0. He tossed four shutout innings, allowing two hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Caleb Larson gave up a run on three hits in the bottom of the ninth, but he induced a 6-3 double play to end the game.
