Local briefs: Carthage women's soccer lands three on All-Conference team

Carthage lands three on All-Conference team

Three Carthage women’s soccer players were named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin team Tuesday.

Jacey Kent and Morgan Verbeten made the first team, while Malaika Bigirindavyi was selected for the second team.

Kent tallied four goals, two assists and 13 shots on goal for the Reds (7-8-2 overall, 4-3-1 conference) this season. Verbeten scored a team-high seven goals, including a pair of game-winners, and had 30 shots on goals. Bigirindavyi finished with six shots on goal and an assist.

KSFCA holds annual celebration banquet

The Kenosha Sportfishing and Conservation Association held its annual celebration banquet Saturday at the Boat House Pub.

Awards were presented to Hank Martinelli Sr. for largest brown trout, Dave Slayton for largest chinook and largest coho, Steve Reuter for the traveling trophy and Kim Caves for largest rainbow trout.

Hank Martinelli Jr. was awarded for the largest laker and was also named the Master Angler of 2019.

Awards totaling $450 were distributed.
