Prpa earns GLIAC honors

UW-Parkside redshirt senior Leki Prpa was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

In a 4-2 victory over Northern Michigan on Saturday, Prpa assisted on the go-ahead goal in the 35th minute and scored a goal in the 58th in the Rangers' 4-2 victory that pulled them into a tie atop the GLIAC with Davenport.

Parkside broke that tie Monday with a 1-0 blanking of Davenport in Grand Rapids, Mich., to improve to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in conference.

Redshirt sophomore Jack Mittelsteadt scored in the 69th minute off an assist from redshirt sophomore Dejan Rokvic for the match's lone goal.

Parkside goalie Juan Gonzalez recorded a career-high 10 saves.

The Rangers faced Purdue Northwest in a GLIAC contest in Hammond, Ind., on Friday afternoon.

Kenosha Velosport holding meeting

Kenosha Velosport Cycling, one of the most recognized amateur cycling clubs in Wisconsin, is hosting a new member meeting 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Kenosha, 3700 47th Ave.

The volunteer-run organization's current members include cycling enthusiasts from novice riders to semi-pro racers, both at the junior and adult level.

Fly Tying Group to start Tuesday clinics

The Fly Tying Group, sponsored by the Kenosha Sportfishing and Conservation Association, will begin its 2019-20 season of clinics at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The weekly clinics will be held each Tuesday through March 31 in the basement room at the Moose Lodge on 30th Avenue.

The family-friendly clinics are free and provide equipment available for use. All skill levels are encouraged to participate.
