UWP men’s soccer picked to win GLIAC
The UW-Parkside men’s soccer team was picked to finish first in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference when the preseason coaches poll was released Friday.
Led by ninth-year coach Jason Zitzke, Parkside was picked ahead of Saginaw Valley State. Northwood, Ashland and Davenport rounded out the top five in the eight-team conference.
In their first season in the GLIAC in 2018, the Rangers went 9-7-1 and were one game away from clinching the regular-season conference title. They earned a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
Parkside returns its top two points scorers from last season, including reigning GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year Leki Prpa, who’ll be a redshirt senior this season.
The Rangers open their season with a non-conference game against Quincy on Sept. 5 at Wood Road Field.
