The Carthage men’s and women’s track teams combined for four individual titles Saturday at the second and final day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships at Art Keller Field.
Carthage’s Sarah Schmidt, who was first in the discus (41.76 meters) and second in the hammer throw (51.08 meters), was named the meet’s top female athlete. Teammate Elizabeth Willis was first in the shot put (14.02 meters) and third in the discus (38.93 meters).
The shot put title was the first for Willis.
Also placing in the top three for the Reds were Aubrey Tesch, second in the high jump (1.64 meters), followed by third-place efforts from Tyrani White in the long jump (5.45 meters) and the triple jump (10.91 meters), Courtney Glassman in the pole vault (3.40 meters) and Janna Hollingsworth in the heptathlon (4,012 points).
On the men’s side, Carthage’s Aaron Austin won the shot put title (15.08 meters) to go with his first-place effort in the discus (48.22).
Austin also was third in the hammer throw (49.11), as was the 1,600-meter relay team of Dante Graham, Hugo Flores, Quade Kayle and Michael Schantek (3:21.17).
