Carthage’s Ramsey honored by CCIW

Carthage freshman Sam Ramsey was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Ramsey finished 4-0 in wins over Lake Forest and UW-Oshkosh last week.

Ramsey was 2-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Angelica Emmanouil as the pair beat UW-Oshkosh’s Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer, 8-1, and Lake Forest’s Julie Lord and Leeza Bodnar, 8-7. Ramsey went 2-0 at No. 2 singles with wins over Lake Forest’s Allison Watts, 6-2, 6-3, and UW-Oshkosh’s Samantha Koppa, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.

Muni golf league seeking players

The Men’s Tuesday Morning Senior Golf League at Washington Park Municipal Course is seeking members.

Any golfers age 55 and older are welcome to play. A second registration date will be held Tuesday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the course clubhouse.

Bowling honors

Ken Ortiz bowled an 810 series with games of 297, 266 and 247 in the Monday Vegas League at Guttormsen Recreation Center. In the same league, Billy Kollatz’s series was highlighted by a 299 game.

Matt Christensen rolled his fifth career perfect game in the Commercial League at Sheridan Lanes. Bowling for the Sheridan Gin Drops, Christensen also had games of 223 and 179 for a 702 series.

Also in the Commercial League, DT Remax and A&M Painting won the third third of the season. Team members are Bob Casarsa, Dan Turner, Mike Damit, Todd Tobin, Jeff Zastoupil, Jay Kaplan and Ted Wood.
