Thirty-eight spring UW-Parkside athletes were honored Thursday by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as members of the All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence teams.
All-Academic teams include student-athletes who are on the active roster at the end of the season and who carry a grade-point average between 3.0 and 3.49. Academic Excellence honors are awarded for a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0.
Softball and men’s track and field tied for the most athletes honored with 11, followed by baseball with eight, women’s track and field with five and men’s golf with three. Men’s track also landed six as All-Academic Excellence athletes.
Area golfers receive academic honors

Students with at least a grade-point average of 3.25, who participated in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches, were at least a sophomore and who “served as a great example to others, proving that athletic and academic success are not mutually exclusive” were eligible to be considered.
A total of 401 students from 125 high schools were honored, with an average overall GPA of 3.747.
Named All-State were Trent Stueber and Paul Lynch (Central); Caleb Stinespring and Jared Scott (Christian Life); Isabella Hart, Aidan O’Brien, Sam Paupore and Timothy Evans (St. Joseph); and Tyler Fisel, Max Winslow and Dylan Moore (Indian Trail).
