The Bradford boys basketball team got cooking in the second half Saturday afternoon against Beloit Memorial in a non-conference game at the Bradford Fieldhouse.
The game was tied 23-23 at halftime, but the Red Devils erupted for 50 points in the second half to fend off Beloit Memorial’s own 40-point second-half performance for a 73-63 victory.
Jashon Lee scored 17 of his season-high 22 points in the second half for Bradford (6-13), while Max Glass had 13 of his 21 after halftime. Glass made four 3-pointers in the game, while Lee hit three.
Tanner Hurley went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line — the Red Devils went 21-of-25 as a team — and scored 16 points, and Da’Quante Sawyer added 11.
Amariah Cook led Beloit Memorial (3-14) with 17 points.
Racine St. Catherine’s 83, Shoreland Lutheran 31
The host Angels got out to a 48-16 lead and put the clamps on the Pacers’ offense in a Metro Classic Conference game Saturday.
St. Catherine’s, ranked No. 4 in Division-3 in the latest WisSports.net state coaches poll, won its ninth straight to improve to 16-3 overall and 12-1 in the conference. The Angels hold a half-game lead over Greendale Martin Luther for the conference lead.
Shoreland dropped to 4-13 overall and 1-13 in conference play.
Quentin Bolton made a pair of 3-pointers and led the Pacers with 10 points, Sam Olson scored six and Brandon Freitag and Konnor Hill chipped in five apiece. Shoreland was just 10-of-32 from the field, with six of those makes coming from behind the arc.
The Angels were led by Tyrese Hunter (22 points), Azarien Stephens (17) and Jermaine Tomlin (15).
Shoreland Lutheran 79, Racine St. Catherine’s 60
The visiting Pacers, ranked No. 6 in Division-3 in the latest WisSports.net state coaches poll, notched their 12th consecutive win Saturday to improve to 17-1 overall and 12-1 in the Metro Classic Conference.
Chelby Koker had her second 45-point performance in three games and added 17 rebounds, while Lauren Heathcock tallied 14 points and 12 boards.
With three conference games remaining, Shoreland has a half-game lead on Greendale Martin Luther atop the Metro Classic. The Pacers play at Whitefish Bay Dominican at 5:30 p.m. today.
Also, Shoreland learned in Sunday’s seeding meetings that it received a No. 1 seed in the WIAA Division-3 postseason draw. The Pacers will have a first-round bye and will play either No. 8 seed Whitewater or No. 9 seed St. Thomas More in a regional semifinal at Shoreland on Feb. 22.
St. Catherine’s, meanwhile, dropped to 2-18 overall and 0-14 in conference play.
