For the second night in a row, the Shoreland Lutheran boys basketball team dropped a tough Metro Classic Conference game at home.

After a 49-45 overtime loss to St. Thomas More on Friday, the Pacers led Racine Lutheran 31-23 at halftime Saturday but couldn’t hang on in the second half, falling by a score of 63-58.

Shoreland (5-15 overall) finished its Metro Classic schedule at 1-15.

Brandon Freitag drilled three 3-pointers and led the Pacers with 17 points Saturday, Andrew Koestler scored 12 and Josh Edmundson and Sawyer Smith had seven apiece.

Brady Wilks scored a game-high 18 points for the Crusaders (10-10 overall, 7-8 Metro Classic).

Catholic Central 53,

St. Joseph 35

Junior guard Katie Matrise scored a game-high 23 points for the Lancers in a Metro Classic Conference road loss to the Hilltoppers.

Matrise knocked down eight shots from the field and 5-of-7 free throws. Coreyonna Watts and Elizabeth Alia each added six points for St. Joseph, which fell to 5-16 overall and 4-12 in conference.

Catholic Central took a 16-point advantage into intermission and outscored St. Joseph 21-19 in the second half.

Senior guard Emma Klein hit eight shots and paced the Hilltoppers (14-8, 8-8) with 22 points.

HOPE Christian 71,

Christian Life 33

Kaila Woods led the host Eagles with a double-double, as she scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough in the Midwest Classic Conference loss.

Vivian Onedo added seven points and eight rebounds for Christian Life (7-14, 1-11), while Alayna Smith had six points, three rebounds and five steals.

HOPE Christian improved to 14-7 overall and 8-4 in the MCC.
