Racine Lutheran (2-0) at Shoreland Lutheran (1-1)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Shoreland (9026 12th St., Somers)
Series note: The Crusaders have dominated the last two seasons, winning both games by a combined 111-20. … Shoreland claimed a win in 2016, however, by a 28-21 final.
Player to watch: Shoreland senior Jaxon Clark, a 6-2, 195-pound offensive/defensive lineman, didn't play football last season but has returned to the Pacers in a key role. … "Matured significantly in the last year-and-a-half," Shoreland coach Paul Huebner said. "Bright young man who is a pleasure to have in class. We will need him to play his best game this week as an offensive guard and defensive end as we open our conference schedule."
Key stat: To hang in there against powerhouse Racine Lutheran, Shoreland will need to hit on some more explosive plays. In splitting their two non-conference games, the Pacers averaged just 4.6 yards per play.
FYI: Racine Lutheran senior running back Tyler Tenner is chasing history. The 5-9, 210-pound Tenner entered the season 2,254 rushing yards short of achieving the state's all-time career rushing mark of 6,780 yards, set last season by Iola-Scandinavia's Bryce Huettner. Tenner leads the Metro Classic Conference with 409 rushing yards through two games this season. … The Crusaders, ranked No. 2 in Division-6 in the latest WisSports.net state coaches poll, reached the WIAA Division-6 state title game last season, losing 43-14 to Iola-Scandinavia.
